Melbourne Weekly Dances
Stomping Grounds are weekly urban dance gatherings.
We use Open Floor Movement Practice - a lively, sweaty, expressive dance inquiry - to come home to our bodies, release unwanted baggage and awaken the artist within.
When we dance with mindfulness, we feel more alive, become more aware and come home to our shared humanity.
A weekly drop-in class taught between Henry Fowkes & Jake Potter.
7:30pm - 9:30pm
St John's Anglican Church Hall,
86 Clendon Rd, Toorak, 3142
We understand that at different times of our lives, finances can become tight, and we don’t want this to stop you from dancing.
If a lack of money is preventing you from dancing, message or come talk to us, as we can offer work exchange and discounted prices.
Please be on time, doors are locked 30 mins after start to create a safe held container.
We embrace uniqueness and diversity.
Please enter the dance space in silence.
Newcomers are always welcome, no dance experience required.
This is a SOBER, drug and alcohol free space.
This is an adult class (16+ years)
We dance in our bare feet or dance shoes.
No phones, shazam, or recording devices - please turn off all notifications and ringers
Please wear loose comfortable clothes and layers are recommended
Bring a bottle of water
Please refrain from wearing heavy perfumes or jewellery
Each person is responsible for their own well-being and body during the entire class - pace yourself
If you are new to this class it is natural to feel nervous. When we ask you to take a partner please do and know that we are here to develop boundary skills as much as freedom skills. Take your own authority as to what feels appropriate with each partner.
Jake also teaches a Stomping Ground in the Northside of Melbourne on Wednesday nights. All info here https://www.commonroots.com.au/stompingground/
