OPEN FLOOR SATURDAY COMMUNITY DANCE [Fortnightly from May 11th!]

facilitated by Henry Fowkes.

“Everything in the universe has rhythm. Everything dances.”

— Maya Angelou

ABOUT

After a huge amount of interest and a sold out first dance, these dances will now be fortnightly starting May 11th!

My intention for creating this regular dance space rests on a knowing that moving together regularly is what creates the most nourishing place for movement practice and community refuge.

This is a space to release into the goodness of the dance, ignited by soulful rhythm-driven music, and nourished by the soulful community connections.

The dance will be facilitated to support you to drop into your body and create a comfortable space together. We use Open Floor Movement Practice - a lively, mindful, free-form movement practice - to support us to connect with our bodies, feelings, thoughts, and soulful longings. And afterwards, stick around for a tea (provided BYO mug) and community connection (co-created).

No dance experience required, or moves to follow.

Please respect this is a drug and alcohol free space.

I can't wait to co-create this dance with you!

WHAT TO EXPECT

As you enter the dance space, the teacher will be playing some music for you to warm up to. This is a time for you to arrive and warm up your body, from the inside out. Take some time to tune into your body, through gentle movement and stretching, your senses, and allow your body to lead the way.

The teacher will play a variety of music which will build in momentum, for easeful in the warmup to some bigger beats to ignite you, and the group, into movement.

As we move deeper into the workshop, you will be guided to move, include, and explore through dance and self-reflection.

Please turn your phone off, keep talking off the dance floor, and take personal responsibility for your own needs.
